Since 1997, John Fraser has established himself as a successful photographer in the ACT and surrounding regions. His passion for creative imagery has led to the development of a style which seeks to find a different angle on a wide range of subjects. His landscape photography has received critical acclaim and has been exhibited on a regular basis in art exhibitions in the ACT. John has developed a style of wedding photography which includes a blend of formal and candid images and this is highly sought after.
John is an accredited photographer for both national and international road racing and mountain bike events with his photographs appearing regularly in a number of cycling magazines including Australian Mountain Bike, Mountain Biking Australia, Bicycling Australia, Freewheel and Enduro. His articles on sports photography have been published in several magazines including Inside Sport and his images have also appeared in magazines in Asia, USA and Canada.
As a teacher, John has developed courses and taught photography on a regular basis to both college students and adults. Prior to his move to the south coast of NSW in 2003 John was a member of the Canberra Photographic Society and was the former Secretary of the Society in 2001/02. He has worked on commission for Mogo Zoo on the south coast and has also been the official photographer for the Juvenile Diabetes Association's fund raising activities in the ACT in recent years. He has also been commisioned to shoot major road and mtb cycling events and has photographed the Tour Down Under, Australia's premier stage road race, each year since 2003. His cycling photography is on permanent display in All Sportz and Bikes at Bateman's Bay.
For many years John shot his images on professional transparency film and much of his archive of images is on 'tranny'. His wedding images are shot on professional print film which has the ability to cope with the most demanding situations on a couple's big day. However the constant improvements in digital technology mean that many clients are requesting digital files and since 2005 most of John's work has been shot on this medium.
One of John's recent projects has been shooting the regular 'Dream Tests' for Bicycling Australia magazine. This has involved both static and action photography of exotic bikes in a range of locations in NSW and SA.
